Opportunities for Students

The Healthy Kids Lab often has opportunities for students to get involved and gain research experience. We typically accept new volunteers at the beginning of each academic year.

Volunteering to help with a research project is a great way to develop your skills related to conducting research, reading scientific papers, writing literature reviews, analyzing data, and writing up research findings. Within the Healthy Kids Lab, you will also learn a lot about early childhood nutrition, infant and child development, parenting and family interactions, and obesity prevention.

Volunteers are expected to devote at least 5 hours per week for at least 1 academic term. All volunteers must complete an online research ethics and skills training course prior to working in the lab.

Want to learn more about how to get involved? Follow these steps:

1. Learn more about our current studies.

2. Stop by Dr. Ventura's office hours. If you are not able to attend office hours, you can schedule a meeting with Dr. Ventura through Calendly.

3. Fill out the Healthy Kids Lab Research Assistant & Volunteer Application form to give us more information about you, your career goals, and previous experiences.
