Beirocks

Prep Time: 45 minutes

Servings: 12

Ingredients:

  • 1 small head of cabbage, shredded
  • 1 pound extra lean ground beef
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 loaf frozen, whole wheat bread dough

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Defrost the bread dough according to the package directions.
  3. Divide into twelve equal pieces.
  4. In a skillet, brown the beef.
  5. When the pink color is gone from the beef, add the shredded cabbage, salt, pepper and sugar, and 2 tablespoons water. Cover and simmer for about five minutes.
  6. While the meat mixture cools, roll each bread section on a floured board into a 8” circle.
  7. In the center of each circle, place about ¼ cup of the meat and cabbage mixture (use a slotted spoon to drain any liquid).
  8. Fold the edges of the circle up to cover the filling, and place the packet, seam side down, on a greased cookie sheet.
  9. Bake for 20 minutes or until the beirocks are golden brown. These are good hot or cold!
