Ingredients:
- 1 small head of cabbage, shredded
- 1 pound extra lean ground beef
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 loaf frozen, whole wheat bread dough
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Defrost the bread dough according to the package directions.
- Divide into twelve equal pieces.
- In a skillet, brown the beef.
- When the pink color is gone from the beef, add the shredded cabbage, salt, pepper and sugar, and 2 tablespoons water. Cover and simmer for about five minutes.
- While the meat mixture cools, roll each bread section on a floured board into a 8” circle.
- In the center of each circle, place about ¼ cup of the meat and cabbage mixture (use a slotted spoon to drain any liquid).
- Fold the edges of the circle up to cover the filling, and place the packet, seam side down, on a greased cookie sheet.
- Bake for 20 minutes or until the beirocks are golden brown. These are good hot or cold!
